(04 July 2016) – On 1 July the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) invited ECOLISE to participate in a seminar interestingly entitled “Changing our Mindsets – Seizing opportunities in the Green Economy”.
The seminar was part of the ENRD’s work where the main objective is to maximise the impact that the EU’s rural development programmes (RDPs) have on promoting the transition to a green economy in rural areas.
Simultaneous interpretation was provided for some 50 participants in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish during the plenary session.
The seminar was opened by Mauro Ponelli, DG AGRI, who spoke on the new demands on rural development since COP21 and earlier EU commitments to de-carbonising the economy.
The EU now has agreed to produce 27% of its energy from renewables, while sequestering more carbon and ensuring food security.
